An illustrated reading of The Rule of the Land: Walking Ireland's BorderThe Rule of the Land: Walking Ireland's Border by Garrett Carr is the story of Ireland’s frontier and a portrait of its landscape and people. It was adapted for broadcast on BBC Radio 4 earlier this year and read by actor, John Paul Connolly. He will once again take on Carr's work in this reading, although this time joined by the author. The reading surveys some of the border's turbulent history, changing the way we look at nationhood, land and power. Music during the reading by Damian Robinson (uilleann pipes).
“It is Garrett Carr’s contention that Ireland is more divided than any of us suspected – not in two but in three: north, south and borderland. The third state is opened up in this marvellous book.” – Daily Telegraph"
